Nuclear Weapons Free Canada

Most people don’t realize for a good chunk of the cold war Canada had nuclear weapons. Some were based in Canada to detonate in Soviet Bomber streams coming over the Arctic. Others were based in Europe under the control of the United States. They were offensive weapons aimed at the Warsaw Pact.
Twenty-Five years ago if I remember correctly Canada took the courageous and proper step to unilaterally disarm itself. We gave up the ability to build, maintain and use nuclear weapons. We still have the technology but we would never use it for military purposes again.
If only every nation had this kind of courage.
